Use Master Records to Manage Groups
Groups whose members have a master/child relationship are managed by working with the master record of the group. The child records are hidden from view and not accessible from the standard Work Order List.
You can make the following changes to the entire group by working with the master record:
-
Create assignments that are pushed to all child records in the group.
-
Change the master record status and have that change pushed to all members of the group.
-
Use the Complete/Close window to record progress, complete, and/or close out the entire group of work orders.
-
Print work orders or work order statements for all members of the group.
Since the master record is typically used to make changes to the group of records, the child records are not accessible from the Work Order List. There are two methods to find and open a child record:
-
Right-click the record on the Group page and select Open or Open in New Window.
-
Use the Work Order Search tab to locate the record by ID.
Although the record does not display in the standard List tab, it can be found in the Search tab.
